Billet and Shaft Clamping with a CNC Forging Manipulator
Strong and stable clamping is essential during open die forging. A CNC forging manipulator holds the hot billet or shaft while the main forging machine applies force to shape the material.
The forging manipulator can be equipped with suitable clamping jaws for round billets, long shafts, ingots and special forged parts. V-shaped jaws are commonly used for cylindrical workpieces, while custom jaws can be considered for specific applications.
Good clamping helps improve positioning accuracy and supports safer handling of high-temperature materials. The manipulator can also rotate and feed the workpiece during forging, making it useful for shaft forging and billet forging.
Wiz Machinery can help customers choose a CNC forging manipulator based on workpiece weight, clamping range, billet diameter and forging process requirements.
