How Does a Pneumatic Forging Hammer Work?
A pneumatic forging hammer works by using a motor-driven system to move the hammer ram and deliver repeated impact force onto heated metal.
The machine usually includes a motor, flywheel, belt drive, crank mechanism, cylinder system, hammer ram, dies and anvil area. As the motor runs, the flywheel and crank mechanism help create the movement needed for hammer operation.
Basic Working Principle
The pneumatic power hammer uses its internal pneumatic system to move the ram up and down. The heated workpiece is placed on the lower die or anvil, and the hammer head strikes the metal repeatedly to form the required shape.
Operator Control
The operator controls the hammer through the machine control system, usually by hand or foot control. This allows the hammer to perform light blows, single blows or continuous forging blows depending on the process.
How Forging Force Is Created
Forging force is created by a combination of ram weight, air pressure and ram speed. This gives the machine strong impact performance while still allowing operator control.
Suitable Forging Processes
A pneumatic forging hammer is suitable for drawing-out, upsetting, bending, punching, chiselling, twisting, forge welding and open die forging. It is used by blacksmith workshops, repair workshops, tool makers and industrial forging factories.
Wiz Machinery can help recommend a suitable forging hammer machine based on your material, billet size and production requirements.
